Skills A Key For New York City Swingman

Scout.com's East Coast recruiting expert Mike Sullivan profiles a swingman from Cardozo High School ..

The skills are there. Now the strength must be added to complete his individual game. Cardozo head coach Ron Naclerio knows this is a key but very achieveable goal for James Southerland, a 6-foot-6 swingman.

"He just has to get stronger," Naclerio said. "He can do a lot of things. The colleges love his game."

Syracuse is supposed to be in today to watch Southerland workout. The Orange have been one of the schools that have watched him quite a bit. Syracuse is in town (New York City) to compete in the Jimmy V Classic. But Syracuse has been in before to watch Southerland workout.

"They like him a lot," Naclerio said. "They have been interested all along."

Seton Hall, Rutgers, Florida, St. John's, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Louisville have also expressed some interest.

"He's open," Naclerio said. "But he is just a junior. He has some time. He's going to be a very good college player because he has the skills too."
