Lincoln Big Man Has Big Test Tomorrow In NYC

Reporter Mike Sullivan talks about the Big Apple Challenge scheduled to take place at Baruch College tomorrow

The Big Apple Challenge has once again done an exceptional job of gathering some of the area's best high schools in a two-day weekend event. Today, at Hunter College, there are four games slated to take place.

Tomorrow, at Baruch College (23rd Street and Lexington Avenue), there are give very competitive games scheduled. The nightcap features Lincoln High School of Brooklyn, New York and Christ The King High School of Queens.

The Big Apple Challenge brings together some of the best teams from the CHSAA and the PSAL.

The Lincoln-CTK is especially interesting. Lincoln will count heavily this season on big man Brandon Walters, who recently made a commitment to Big East program Seton Hall.

Lincoln head coach Tiny Morton has always been a supporter of Walters. He will need the 6-foot-8 center to have a good season for Lincoln to take the PSAL title.

Walters has had problems sometimes in staying out of foul trouble. But his upside is huge. It's the reason why the Pirates are excited about having him next year in their program.

Against Christ the King, the Royals possess some agility inside that will test Walters and his teammates. Andrew Gabriel is a tough, battling forward inside the paint while Ryan Pearson can score on driving baskets.

Add in the outstanding point guard Malik Boothe and outside shooting of Erving Walker, the Royals have some tremendous offensive weapons to draw upon.

Game time is 7 PM at Baruch College. Here is a list of tomorrow's games:

12 PM -- Wadleigh vs. Mount St. Michaels

1:45 -- Thurgood Marshall vs. Bishop Loughlin

3:30 PM -- Boys and Girls vs. Archbishop Molloy

5:15 PM -- Wings vs. Holy Cross

7 PM -- Lincoln vs. Christ The King
