The 6-foot-5 senior swingman provided good energy in the first half, collecting 17 points and pushing Campus to a halftime lead. In the eyes of Campus coach Charles Granby, Peay's foul troubles in the second half were the x-factor.
"That was the difference in the game," said Granby. "When he got into foul trouble, that changed the game."
Malachi is a physically impressive player and a good athlete who excels at getting to the line. He's a slashing/get in the gaps type who takes it strong to the rim, can absorb contact off of the drive, and get out and run the break. He can defend multiple positions on the floor. If he can cut down on mental mistakes and add polish, it will enhance his stock. Peay is a scholarship-level athlete.
"He does everything well," said Granby. "He can play the one, two, three, or the four- almost any position on the floor."
Peay is a strong student who has attracted interest from Dartmouth, Columbia, and St. Francis, NY, according to Granby.
Peay averaged 19.2 points and 7.2 rebounds as a junior.
