Notre Dame head coach Bill Barton knows a great player when he sees and coaches one. He's convinced that 6-foot-9 forward Michael Beasley is a prep prospect that will ultimately be an NBA player.

Beasley is likely to be highly considered for many top All Star games, including the crown jewel -- the McDonald's All American game to be held in the Spring in Louisville, Kentucky.

"He's at all of our practices and works hard," Barton said. "He's always working on his game. He's a great player. He deserves to be recognized as one of the best players in the country."

A lefty with the shooting skills of a small forward, Beasley is also physical enough to overpower bodies inside the paint. A native of Washington, D.C., Beasley has given a commitment to Kansas State.

"He's going to be a great college player," Barton said. "He can score from anywhere on the court. He has a great shooting touch from the perimeter too."

Beasley pumped in 30 points and claimed MVP honors at the recent Westchester Elite sponsored event held on the campus of Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y. Barton's Notre Dame Prep team won a game against a very talented South Kent School squad.

"He can do it all," Barton said. "I hope he is recognized for what he has done this season."
