St. Mary's Forward Having Solid Senior Season

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on a player from St. Mary's High School ...

Marcos Tamares, 6-foot-6 1/2 forward from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, deserves to have more looks from division one programs, to Gaels head coach Rob Jones.

Jones pointed out some schools that have gotten involved recently were surprised Tamares had yet to sign a letter of intent. "He's an unbelievable kid," Jones said. "Down at the Bay Ball he picked up heavy interest from Towson University who was amazed he wasn't signed."

Jones said that Army and Yale are still in the recruiting picture. "That's pretty much it," Jones said. "I haven't heard from Dartmouth, Binghamton, and Norfolk State in a while."

Tamares is certainly a player to watch during the winter. Marcos is a senior and a member of the 2007 class.

Marcos is currently averaging 15.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per contest. St. Mary's has a big battle this Tuesday in Manhasset against St. Dominic's of Oyster Bay, N.Y.

Marcos is a terrific student too. He is close to a 1000 on his SAT.
