Cardozo Lead Guard Has Some D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on Trinity Fields of Cardozo High School ...

Cardozo High School is trying to make a run at another PSAL New York City championship. Like years past, the competition is deep and tough. Head coach Ron Naclerio knows he will need solid play from his lead guard position to secure a title.

And he needs his guard Trinity Fields to have a big season. "He's playing well," Naclerio said. "He's a solid guard."

Naclerio feels Fields, 6-foot-1, is also a legitimate division one player. "He has plenty of interest," said Naclerio, who goes for his 500th career win tonight at 5 PM on the campus of Cardozo High School in Bayside, New York.

He added: "Hofstra, St. Francis, Rhode Island, Clemson, George Mason, and St. Joe's are just a few schools we have heard from expressing interest."

Fields doesn't have a leader in his recruiting process since he is a 2008 prospect. So Trinity has some time to develop and improve his game for Naclerio.

"He can score points," Naclerio said. "As long as he is confident his game is solid. He can play division one basketball and be a good player for some school."

*Naclerio previously added that Fields has a size 13 sneaker and could gain a couple of more inches. This would put Trinity around 6-foot-3 and further accelerate his game.
