Hendra Has Some Company At American

Reporter Brian Towey has a story on some future teammates of Nick Hendra

American University dipped into the junior college ranks recently to secure a pair of commitments from Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas, a memer of the rugged Jayhawk Conference, one of America's top JUCO leagues.

According to sources close to the situation, 6-foot-7 sophomore wing Bryce Simon and 6-foot-8 freshman post Bill Amis have pledged to coach Jeff Jones' program.

Simon, who is purported to be a strong shooter, is averaging 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists for coach Trevor Rolfs. The native of Syracuse, Kansas, had a big hand in Pratt's 78-77 win over Barton County on Feb. 3, scoring 19 points, with four rebounds and five assists.

Amis, who attended Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a lefthanded post player who'll have three years of eligibility at AU.

Pratt, at 21-4 (7-4 in conference), is tied for second in the Western Division of the Jayhawk Conference with Barton County.

Simon and Amis join versatile guard Nick Hendra out of New York City's Xavier High School in American's incoming recruiting class.
