Upstate Soph Prospect Receives High Praise

Reporter Mike Sullivan examines the game of Tyler Foster ...

It was only a few months ago that this website started reporting on Tyler Foster, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard/forward from The Albany Academy in Albany, New York. Foster has been one of the more talked about players from the heavily talented Albany area.

Some of the progress is also due to the evolution of the Albany City Rocks basketball program under director Jim Hart.

"Tyler has had a great year," said Hart. "He has a chance to be a very good basketball player on the college level."

A prospect in the 2009 class, Foster does have a couple of season to continue to make improvements and progress in his individual game. Hart believes by the time Foster is a senior, he will have many schools recruiting him. "The schools in the area and Atlantic 10 schools are already interested," Hart said.

Hart said Tyler can do several things well on the court -- including taking the ball to the basket on drives and employing a mid-range game.

"He reminds me of Mike Miller's game," Hart said. "He has some diversity in his game. This makes him tough to guard."
