2008 Upstate Guard Has D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan has an update on a shooting guard from the upstate portion of New York ...

Brett Marfurt, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard from Guilderland High School in New York State, has a new set of schools interested in his individual game, according to Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart.

"Fordham, Siena, Brown, Penn State, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Binghamton, Vermont, William & Mary, American, Bucknell, and Penn are interested in him," said Hart.

Marfurt first was reported on this website when he rang up 38 points in a semifinal game in the traditionally and competitively tough Boston Shootout. "It was a tremendous performance," Hart said. "I was very impressed. He had 28 of his points in the second half too when we needed him to score."

Hart had also stated that Fordham and Penn State visited the school to show their love to Brett. Marfurt currently plays for highly respected head coach Ron Osinski.

Brett has also visited those schools unofficially.

WHAT JIM HART LIKES ABOUT BRETT MARFURT'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: He is already an excellent three-point shooter. He finishes well also with either hand. He is a sneaky athlete too. He dunks with ease and can defend the small forward position. He was the leading scorer on our 16 and under team."
