Upstate Shooting Guard Has D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan updates a story on upstate guard Brett Marfurt ...

Brett Marfurt, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard from Guilderland High School in New York State, has a new set of schools in his recruiting process.

Marfurt has interest from Fordham, Brown, Penn State, Cornell, Penn, Yale, Lafayette, Columbia, Binghamton, American, William and Mary, Siena, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Princeton.

Marfurt has been covered a few times on the Scout.com High School New York website. Previously, Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart confirmed that Marfurt scored 38 points in a semifinal game in the Boston Shootout.

Hart had also confirmed with us that Fordham and Penn State visited the school to express interest in Brett. Marfurt currently plays for highly regarded head coach Ron Osinski.

Brett has also visited Penn State and Fordham unofficially.

WHAT JIM HART LIKES ABOUT BRETT MARFURT'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: He is already an excellent three-point shooter. He finishes well also with either hand. He is a sneaky athlete too. He dunks with ease and can defend the small forward position. He was the leading scorer on our 16 and under team."
