Report: R.J. Rutledge Makes Commitment

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story about R.J. Rutledge choosing a school ...

R.J. Rutledge, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts, committed to Monmouth College in New Jersey, according to a report published in the Asbury Park Press.

BRIAN TOWEY'S PREVIOUS REPORT: The lanky shooter had teamed with current Northfield mate Tyrone Nash at Lawrence-Woodmere Academy on Long Island during high school, helping lead LWA to the Class A State Federation final as a senior. He opted for a post-graduate year at Northfield for an extra year of development, and the move has been fruitful, according to the Baldwin native.

BRIAN TOWEY'S VIEW ON RUTLEDGE'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: Rutledge is long and rangy, and he is never afraid to tee it up from deep. He has gotten a bit stronger since arriving at Northfield and will need do continue to work on his strength for college. Rutledge has strong bloodlines: his father, Ron Rutledge, played at St. John's.

There was some previous interest from Manhattan, Howard, Long Island U., and Binghamton.
