Final Look: Archbishop Molloy Sharpshooter

A final look at Molloy sharpshooter Rocco Rubino ...

PROFILE: ROCCO RUBINO

HIGH SCHOOL:: ARCHBISHOP MOLLOY, Briarwood, N.Y.

HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: JACK CURRAN (49th Season)

HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT COACHES: Fran Leary, John Martinson, and Mike McCleary

HEIGHT: 6-foot-2

WEIGHT: 165 pounds

CLASS: 2007, a senior graduating this spring

POSITION: SHOOTING GUARD

BRIAN TOWEY'S VIEW: Rocco Rubino overcame an injury last Fall to make an impression on several programs over the past season. Rubino is a wiry jumpshooter who can drop down shots from the perimeter, shoot it off the bounce, and get into the lane for pull-ups.

MIKE SULLIVAN'S OUTLOOK: Rocco impressed me several times this season when watching the Stanners compete in the very tough New York City Catholic League.

The coaching staff of St. Francis did a terrific job in watching and evaluating Rubino over the past few months. When they delivered the offer, Rubino didn't hesitate. He took the scholarship ride from head coach Brian Nash, one of the best young coaches in the area.

Rocco can shoot it. He should be able to help St. Francis win some close games.
