St. Mary's Senior Expected To Sign LOI

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on St. Mary's senior Marcos Tamares ...

Marcos Tamares, 6-foot-6 1/2 forward from St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, is expected to sign a letter of intent and play division one basketball, according to head coach Rob Jones.

"He will sign with UMBC," said Jones. "He is on the official visit right now and has intentions on committing Monday."

Jones, who did an outstanding job of coaching the Long Island based Catholic League high school program, also stated: "Coach Randy Monroe did a great job in recruiting him. He saw him play in the Bay Ball Classic in Lewes, Delaware over Christmas and then after the season followed up on him after the season."

Jones stated that Tamares finished up averaging close to 15 points a game. He also had 10.1 rebounds and over three blocks per contest as a senior.

"Coach Monore envisions him coming in playing the three spot with a possibility with continued improvement to play the two spot," Jones concluded.
