New York City Guard Taking Some Campus Visits

Reporter Brian Towey has the recruiting details about Zamal Dixon's trips ...

Zamal Nixon is reaping the benefits of a strong senior season. Coming off of Boys & Girls' run to the PSAL city championship, the 6-foot-1 guard has seen his recruiting interest pick up. He is in the process of visiting a pair of Conference USA schools.

Nixon is currently on an official visit to the University of Houston. He flew to Houston directly from New Orleans, where he had taken an official tour of Tulane this past weekend.

"I've visited Fairfield, Wichita State, Tulane, and Houston," said Nixon. "Wichita State isn't in the picture anymore, because the coaching staff went to Texas A&M. It's pretty much going to come down to Fairfield, Tulane, and Houston. I'm pretty much set with those schools."

The southpaw point/combo guard directed Ruth Lovelace's team to a 31-3 record this winter, averaging 16 points and five assists per game.

"I'm playing in the Jordan game (at Madison Square Garden) this weekend," said Nixon. "I'll be making my decision in the next couple of weeks."

Nixon transferred into Boys & Girls for his senior year after spending three years at Xaverian High School, also in Brooklyn.
