New Jersey Athlete Sparkles In Garden

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on New Jersey based forward Idris Hilliard ...

Idris Hilliard, a 6-foot-7, 210 pound forward from the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, has been one of our favorite recruits to cover over the past two seasons. Hilliard always comes to play and has a very active body that produces points.

This active body, despite a team low of playing 11 minutes in the Jordan regional All Star game last weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City, was still able to produce 10 points. Idris nailed all five of his floor attempts.

Hilliard had given a commitment to St. Joe's of Philadelphia, Penn., a while ago. It's a nice match for Idris who should fit in well with the St. Joe's system.

Last summer Idris really elevated his recruiting progress when he competed for the New Jersey Elite under head coach Galen Smith. While playing for the Elite, the AAU team was very competitive against some talent filled national teams in events held in Orlando, Florida.

Hilliard uses his speed and agility to run by bigger defenders in transition. He is active with his hands defensively too and is always ready to sprint downcourt for fastbreak points. Idris works very hard to gather his points.

Idris is prepared for the next level and should be a very effective player for the Atlantic 10 school.
