New Jersey Lead Guard Chooses A School

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a commitment story on Anthony Nelson ... reporter Brian Towey contributed to this story too ...

Anthony Nelson, a solid floor general from Plainfield High School in Plainfield, New Jersey, signed a letter of intent with Niagara University. "I liked the style of play there," said Nelson. "I like to get up and down the court and so do they."

Nelson feels he will be able to make an impact right away at Niagara. "They are losing their point guard," he said. "So I have a chance to come in right away and start. That is what they spoke to me about doing next season."

Nelson was part of a Playaz team that captured the Playaz Ball at Basketball City in early July. He had several big baskets in the playoffs to help the Playaz claim the title.

Nelson is an exciting player, able to dart in and out of traffic. He has also added another five pounds to his frame since the summer. "I am 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds so I have gotten stronger," Nelson stated.

Anthony also said he was interested in Bowling Green. "I wanted to go to Niagara, I also like Bowling Green a lot," he said. "But I felt I was a better fit at Niagara."
