Final Look: Shooting Guard From New York

A final look at the individual game of R.J. Rutledge who previously played on Long Island ...

HEIGHT: 6-foot-4

WEIGHT: 175 Pounds

PREP SCHOOL: Northfield Mount Hermon in Massachusetts

PREVIOUS HIGH SCHOOL: Lawrence-Woodmere Academy on Long Island

BEST ASSET: R.J.'s ability to shoot the long range jumper will help him tremendously on the college level. He has a boatload of confidence too in his ability to drain the long distance jumpers.

COLLEGE OF CHOICE: Monmouth College (along the Jersey Shore). Monmouth is a terrific place for R.J. to play basketball and get an education. It's a beautiful area of New Jersey too with beaches only a few minutes away.

BRIAN TOWEY'S VIEW ON R.J. PROGRESS AS A PLAYER: The lanky shooter had teamed with Northfield mate Tyrone Nash at Lawrence-Woodmere Academy on Long Island during high school, helping lead LWA to the Class A State Federation final as a senior. Rutledge opted for a post-graduate year at Northfield for an extra year of development, and the move has been fruitful.

Rutledge is long and rangy, and he is never afraid to tee it up from deep. He has gotten a bit stronger since arriving at Northfield and will need do continue to work on his strength for college.

CONCLUSION: We have enjoyed Rutledge's skills for the past few years when watching him in person. We like his confidence and his ability to change a game with his perimeter game is worthy of watching over the next several seasons when he plays for Monmouth.
