Panthers Guard Ready For Big Summer

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on a guard who will compete this summer for the New York Panthers ...

It was a couple of summers ago that the reporters on this Scout.com high school website first started covering the individual game of Dwan McMillan, a guard who comes from Brookly, New York.

McMillan has done well competing for the New York Panthers AAU program for the past few summers. And program director Gary Charles has him aboard again this summer. The spring got off to a great start for Charles. "We won the Weber tournament last week," he said. "The kids really played well. They played together."

It's not a team built on several big name players but one constructed that each individual has a needed role to fill. McMillan, who previously attended Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York, played last season for Danny Hurley at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey.

"Dwan can do several things well," Charles said. "I like the fact that he can get to the basket, score or find players around the rim."

McMillan is an aggressive player. He has confidence. A member of the 2008 class, Dwan is likely to be watched by several division one programs this spring and summer.

"The Atlantic 10 schools have been watching and asking about him," Charles said. "He can play."

Rhode Island has been mentioned previously by Charles. "There are others but right now it will depend upon the summer," Charles said. He will continue to play for Charles' Panthers program at IS8 on weekends.
