St. Dom's Guard Set For College Play

Reporter Mike Sullivan has a story on Roland Davis ...

St. Dominic High School of Oyster Bay, New York (Long Island) over the past several seasons has produced some fine talent and has had some impressive years under head coach Rob Pavinelli. St. Dominic again this season was one of the best "teams" in the area. While the Bayhawks may not have have the most glittering names, Pavinelli's teams come to play every night.

And St. Dominic has had its fair share of players going to play on the division one level. Roland Davis, a lefty guard from St. Dominic's High School in Oyster Bay, New York, is still expected to attend the College of Charleston, according to St. Dom's head coach Rob Pavinelli.

Davis, an at times fancy player, has the ability to dart around players and through traffic to score baskets. Roland can dribble-drive past defenders and open up offensive chances for his forwards inside the paint.

Pavinelli has said in the past that Davis has the ability to shoot and slash to the basket effectively. It's just a couple of reasons why Charleston offered him last Fall.

Davis will need to be more consistent. But this is an aspect of any high school player's game that will need to be elevated on the next level. Davis has the talent. He just has to channel it in a more disciplined way.
