Nick Murphy Open In His Recruiting Process

Reporter Brian Towey has a story on New Yorker Nick Murphy

Add Nick Murphy to the ranks of the 2007 holdovers. The 6-foot-4 junkman out of the Bronx, New York, and fifth-year student at Cincinnati's Harmony Prep is waiting for the definitive word from the NCAA Clearinghouse before he moves forward.

"I'm still waiting to hear from the Clearinghouse," said Murphy. "I'm open to anything, but I'm waiting to hear from them before I do anything."

Murphy, who suited up with the Metro Hawks at this weekend's Rumble in the Bronx, said that USC, Quinnipic, Robert Morris, and Jacksonville State had put out feelers from him, and that he had fielded some other inquiries this spring.

"A couple of schools called on me after the King James Classic," said Murphy. "Those are the schools I know of off the top of my head."

A lefthanded swingman, Murphy is a tough, active, utility-type who can defend a couple of positions, board, and scrap. He's an opportunistic offensive player and a slasher with a good nose for the ball.

Murphy attended Our Savior Lutheran in the Bronx before spending this past year at Harmony.
