Our Savior Big Man On Everyone's Radar Screen

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on recruiting process of John Riek Suas ...

There's already been a little confusion on the name of the big man who plays at Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York. First reported on by Brian Towey of the Scout.com high school New York site, the name of John Riek was used for the story. Then, after confirming with OSNA assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch, it became John Riek Suas. Others have used John Suas to profile this talent.

While it may be a little baffling, what is clear is others have "discovered" what a talent John is. The coaches at Our Savior New American already knew he could play. And after watching him play several times over the past two months, it became apparent that John has some impressive fundamentals for a player his size at 7-foot-2.

The phone has been ringing off the hook for the coaches of Our Savior as well as the coaches for the AAU team he plays for -- the New York Elite.

It's safe to say, according to sources close to John, is that the level of interest in the 2009 prospect has dramatically escalated. DePaul, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, St. John's, Georgetown, Kentucky, Florida, and Connecticut are just some schools that either have been recruiting Riek Suas or have shown recent interest.

Sources close to John state the big man is open. It's likely he will play for the Elite at some major events. You can expect a boatload of coaches watching Chris Phillips and Eric Jaklitsch's basketball team throughout the month of July.
