Marfurt, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Guilderland High School in upstate New York, had competed rather effectively at the Rumble in the Bronx held on the campus of Fordham University.
But we checked in with Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart to get his thoughts on Marfurt's game too. When polling several basketball reporters on the sidelines watching Marfurt compete, many liked his game too.
"He does a lot of nice things on the court," Hart said. "He can score for you, set up a player off a drive, and knows how to play the game of basketball."
Hart is correct. Marfurt is very capable of playing at most levels in division one college basketball. He has an opportunity also to play at most of the elite academic schools. So Marfurt has many options on the table for future success.
Brett's family had previously given us information that he had interest in Fordham, Brown, Penn State, Harvard, Cornell, Penn, Yale, Lafayette, Columbia, Binghamton of NY, American, William and Mary, Siena, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Princeton.
Brett also had listed unofficial trips to Bucknell, Fordham, Penn State, William & Mary, Pennsylvania, Lehigh, and Lafayette.
Marfurt is well positioned to land at a high quality school. He deserves it. Brett works hard and is a pleasure to watch.
