Busy Schedule Ahead For Jamel Fields

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Jamel Fields who will be playing a lot of basketball this summer ...

Jamel Fields has the clock on the side of his individual game. He's only a rising sophomore so he has three full seasons on the high school level and more time on the AAU circuit to solidify his game for college coaches to be interested.

Nicknamed Buddha, Fields is about 6-foot and weighs 167 pounds. He also competes for The Albany Academy in Albany, New York.

"He's going to the Super Showcase in Orlando," said Albany City Rocks program director Jim Hart. "But it's the Showcase for the 16 and unders (age wise."

Hart also stated that Jamel will be at the Joe Brown Memorial tournament. "Then he is going to join our 17 and under team in Las Vegas later in July," Hart said.

Fields, considered a combo guard, is an aggressive player who needs to compete against top level talent. He has a great deal of confidence in his overall game, especially when he dips his shoulder and drives past defenders.

"He'll have a lot of colleges interested in him as he moves up class wise," Hart said. "This is a good chance for him this summer to see how he is progressing against players his own age and also against players who are older."
