Deans Among Many To Compete In All Star Game

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Nate Blue's all star game ...

The end of the summer evaluation period comes on July 31st. The good news for many of the area players is that there's an opportunity to showcase their skills to the college coaches due to Nate Blue's All Star game.

The event will be held at the Gauchos gym in the Bronx, New York. First game starts at 4:30 pm ET. And the list of players competing is growing by the week.

It's a chance for a player like Markeys Deans of St. Dominic High School to show why college coaches should keep an eye on him during his next level of competiton -- at Howard Community College in Texas.

Markeys Deans, a solid 6-foot-5 forward for the Bayhawks over the last three seasons, did a terrific job over the years for Bayhawks head coach Rob Pavinelli.

Deans was a very important player for St. Dominic and its success over the past three season. He showed the ability to score from mid-range as well as handle himself effectively around the basket.

Now he's got a shot at Howard Community College in Texas. Hopefully for Deans, he will improve his individual game at the highly regarded basketball program and catch a break with an offer to a four year school. Deans can play college basketball on the division one level.

He has proven that with the Bayhawks, at events held inside the gym of IS8 as well as at summer tournaments held on the campus of Fordham University.

And he'll have a chance on July 31st to show college coaches he should be scouted over the next year when he plays in Blue's All Star event.

We'll keep you posted on the rosters as they are given to us here.
