NYC Guard Ready For JUCO Challenge

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Vernon Teel and his college situation ...

Vernon Teel, a 6-foot-2 scoring guard from New York City, is now expected to compete for Globe Tech after spending some time at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.

Teel, who is listed on the roster sheet for Nate Blue's All Star game, will try and showcase his scoring skills for college coaches during the July evaluation period. Blue's All Star game is to be held on July 31st. The games start at 4:30 PM ET at the Gauchos Gym in the Bronx, New York.

Teel, who played two seasons ago at Laurinburg in North Carolina, also starred at Flushing High School three years ago. He played for Gary Charles' New York Panthers AAU program too and was an exciting player to watch as he darted in and out of traffic to score on driving moves.

Teel's strength is his ability to score points and cause chaos around the basket with his skill of scoring near the rim.

It's likely college coaches will keep an eye on his progress both on the court and in the classroom over the next year.
