Morris, now at South Kent Prep in Connecticut, helped rally his team to a pool victory this afternoon at Seton Hall University in the Joe Brown Memorial tournament.
Morris scored all 13 of his points in the second half. He completely dominated the interior of the basket in the final 15 minutes of play. "I think losing the weight will help with my endurance and conditioning," he said. "I would like to lose a few more pounds."
Christian said perhaps another five to 10 pounds could be shed. But he looked very nimble out there this afternoon in South Orange, New Jersey. And college coaches from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Rutgers, etc were all on hand to watch him.
Morris also listed interest in Virginia, Virginia Tech, Texas, Marquette, and South Florida. The list is long, Christian admits. But he plans on knocking it down soon. "Maybe in late July or in August," he said.
Christian would like to knock it down to five. Rutgers appears to have made a very favorable impression. "They have been recruiting me the longest and the hardest," Morris said.
When asked if it was safe to say that at least Rutgers had secured a remaining spot on his final list, Morris responded in a positive fashion for the Scarlet Knights. "They will be there," Morris said.
It would be a big commitment for Rutgers. But since his solid play, more schools are trying to jump in. But Morris was very aware that Rutgers had been there all along.
