New Yorker Making Splash Down South

Reporter Brian Towey has a story on Pete Diffley from Bellerose, Queens ...

Pete Diffley, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound post and rising senior from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., is a player looking to break through this month.

The native of Bellerose, Queens, is a sound big with good hands and feet, and a credible interior passer. He is comfortable playing with his back to the basket, and while not an overwhelming athlete, brings a physical presence. He is most effective in halfcourt sets, and right now, his offense is ahead of his defense.

Diffley has drawn preliminary interest from Fordham, Binghamton, L.I.U,, and Quinnipiac. The D.C.-area sleeper is still trying to earn his first D-I offer.

A solid student, Diffley averaged 13.5 points and eight rebounds for coach Jim Fitzpatrick at Episcopal this winter.

Pete attended the second session of the Eastern Invitational Camp earlier this month at the College of New Jersey, and competed at the live event in Springfield, Mass., with the New York City Jaguars.

Next up for Diffley and the Jaguars- who are coached by Kevin Hamilton- are the Super Showcase and AAU Nationals in Orlando this upcoming week.
