Syracuse Prospect To Join Hawks For AAU Event

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA -- It's true the Westchester Hawks lost some key players before they started their quest to win the 17 and under Super Showcase here at the Wide World of Sports complex on the grounds of Disney World.

However, head coach Bob Rizzo revealed last night that his team will eventually have Sean Kilpatrick, the power guard, available in the next 24 hours.

In addition, Rizzo also stated that Cardozo swingman James Southerland, 6-foot-6, will join the Hawks sometime in the next 24 hours. "James is supposed to play for us," Rizzo said. "We're glad to have him play with us."

Southerland, an outstanding perimeter shooter, would be another offensive weapon for Rizzo to use during the course of these very competitive games. "He's a very good player," Rizzo said. "He can help us if he comes."

James has already given a commitment to Syracuse University of the Big East Confererence. Interesting enough, head coach Jim Boeheim and assistant coach Mike Hopkins watched the Westchester Hawks first two games yesterday inside the Milk House.

Boeheim and Hopkins are among many schools trying to recruit Mookie Jones, another talented forward/guard on the Hawks AAU program. Now, it appears, an already committed prospect in Southerland will be a teammate of Mookie's.

We will keep you posted on these developments here on this website.
