But the basketball fans that follow Mount Vernon High School know all about the skill level of 6-foot-7 forward Kevin Jones, many watching him compete here at the Super Showcase seem to appreciate his individual game more.
There were plenty of college coaches on hand watching Kevin play with the Westchester Hawks this week at the Showcase and they continue to watch him in the National AAU tournament at the Wide World of Sports complex.
"I really haven't narrowed my list down or thought about a final group of schools," said Jones, who had previously listed UCLA, Stanford, Ohio State, Louisville, St. Joseph's, Massachusetts, Indiana, Kentucky, Connecticut, Rutgers, St. John's, Syracuse among others.
"I do have a long list," Jones said. "When I get back home I will think about it more."
It's likely the list will change or become more narrow. Kevin knows it's very tough to arrive at a college decision with so many schools on his list. It's safe to say everyone has a chance right now. "Everyone is equal," he said inside the Milk House. "I don't have a leader."
Jones was cautious in naming any schools. "It's too early to really say who is serious," he said. "I just want to help my team win games here."
It's likely the focus on the recruiting process will accelerate in another week. But for now, Kevin Jones has proven he is very worthy of high division one scholarship offers.
