New York Forward Could Have Shot At D-1

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Denzel Wilson of Cardozo High School ...

The upcoming season is big for senior forward Denzel Wilson of Cardozo High School in Bayside, New York. Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound inside forward, needs to have a terrific season to land some offers perhaps from a low division one program.

"I certainly think he can play division two basketball," said Cardozo head coach Ron Naclerio. "Perhaps if he works hard and improves his game more he could end up on the division one level."

Naclerio points out that at 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4 that Wilson could be a player on division two level. "But he has a size 16 sneaker," Naclerio said. "He could grow to 6-foot-6 perhaps and then he becomes an even more attractive prospect for someone."

Naclerio points out that Wilson is a guy who works hard around the basket. "He plays for me inside and does a good job," he said. "He is as strong a player I know in New York City."

Naclerio added: "He also has a decent mid range shot. If he grows then I think he can be even better."
