Bishop Praises Wirey Forward From Buffalo

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Tyshawn Edwards ...

The talent pool from the upstate New York area has been climbing year after year in the category of high school and AAU basketball. The GC Ballers AAU program has gotten its fair share of top talent over the past decade.

Ballers head coach Jeff Bishop has been wisely focusing on his younger teams, preparing them for next spring and summer's big 17 and under AAU events. And he has recently stated he is confident that the team will be successful in the big name events.

A player that Bishop mentioned today in our phone interview was Tyshawn Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 175 pound small forward/shooting guard, who spent the summer with Jeff's GC Ballers AAU program.

"He is a wirey player," Bishop said. "He can jump and is very athletic. He also possesses a nice stroke."

Bishop feels the 2009 prospect, a rising junior, is worth watching over the next couple of seasons. "He has the MAC schools recruiting him now," Bishop said. "Also some of the Atlantic 10 schools are involved including Duquesne and Rhode Island."

Edwards, from Grover High School in Buffalo, New York, is a player that Bishop likes to be around. "He is very coachable, a good kid," Bishop said.
