Mookie Jones Working His List Down

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Mookie Jones of Peekskill High School ...

Mookie Jones, a terrific 6-foot-6 1/2 swingman from Peekskill High School in Peekskill, New York, said he has been working hard with his family in slicing his list of schools down.

"At first I had it down to five schools but it was so hard to cut other schools off the list," Mookie said. "So I have it around nine schools right now."

Jones said his list includes Syracuse, Miami of Florida, Michigan, Marquette, Kansas, Rutgers, St. John's, and DePaul. "My coach will probably set up in home visits or in school visits and I can talk to the coaches in a couple of weeks," Mookie said.

Jones added: "I haven't set up any official visits yet. I have to get my transcript when I get back to school on Thursday and start working on the official visits."

Mookie had a tremendous summer and was perhaps the best player from the area that had an impact July. He demonstrated the ability to play several positions and also showed the skill level that of a high major recruit.

Jones proved he's among the best players in the 2008 class after starring for Rob Rizzo's and Tom Jenning's Westchester Hawks' AAU program over the summer.

"My high school team will be playing in the IS8 Fall League," Mookie said. "So it's exciting I will have a chance to play with my teammates there."

This website will have coverage of the IS8 Fall League too.
