STRENGTHS IN JOHN RIEK'S INDIVIDUAL GAME: John has the ability to affect a game dramatically defending, blocking shots, and rebounding. He doesn't commit himself too early on an opponent's shot which makes him very effective in cleaning up mistakes by his teammates on the defensive side.

COLLEGE INTEREST: According to New York Elite coach and OSNA assistant coach Eric Jaklitsch, Riek is open in his recruiting process. What needs to be clarified is what year/class he should be listed in.

DePaul, Pittsburgh, St. John's, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, and Kentucky were listed by Jaklitsch.

"He doesn't have a leader right now," Jaklitsch said.

CONCLUSION: John Riek will be a fine college player. Is he ready for the NBA as some have speculated? This may be jumping ahead too soon regarding his future. But one thing is clear, John can play and his game will only get better with more experience playing at OSNA and for the New York Elite. Someday, Riek will be a pro. Right now, working on his overall game should be the focus.
