A Look At Individual Game Of Scoring Guard

Reporter Mike Sullivan details a free look at the individual game of OSNA scoring guard ...

PLAYER PROFILE UPDATE: Gerardo Suero

HEIGHT: 6-foot-3 1/2

WEIGHT: 184 Pounds

CLASS: 2008

POSITION: Shooting Guard

HIGH SCHOOL: Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York

HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: Rev. Ron Stelzer

HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT COACHES: Bob Bass and Eric Jaklitsch

AAU BASKETBALL TEAM: New York Elite

AAU BASKETBALL COACHES: Chris Phillips and Eric Jaklitsch

SUERO'S STRENGTHS: He can score. And he can score in punches. Suero has the ability to get in the lane and score on floaters over the big arms trying to block his shot.

Suero has nice size too for a scoring guard. He will help open up the inside for the talented front line of OSNA. In fact, this front line is among the best on the high school/prep school level in Teeng Akol, Leek Leek, and John Riek.

Having a guard like Suero who can dart past his defenders and score will only help the big sized front line of OSNA this season.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Suero went back home for the summer. However, he is expected to play for the New York Elite in the IS8 Fall League.

COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES OF INTEREST: St. John's, has never listed a leader in his recruiting process. "He's open," said Jaklitsch.

Previous schools of interest included Syracuse, St. John's University and Pittsburgh. This list will likely expand during the season since many college programs didn't get a chance to watch Suero during the summer as he spent his time home.
