Recruiting Twist For Talented Prospect

Reporter Mike Sullivan has latest information on Mookie Jones and his situation ...

Later this afternoon, Mookie Jones will make an appearance at IS8 playing with his Peekskill High School team. Jones, a terrific 2008 prospect, hopes to help his team win this highly regarded Fall League championship.

Jones, 6-foot-6 1/2, will be playing on a court not too far from St. John's University. It came as a surprise to many that Mookie initially had cut his list to six schools but without the St. John's name on it.

This changed over the past 24 hours, according to sources. Jones had a chance to speak to St. John's head coach Norm Roberts, according to sources close to Mookie. The conversation went well and now the Johnnies have a shot at landing this highly regarded recruit.

Jones also lists Kansas, Rutgers, Syracuse, DePaul, Michigan, and Marquette. Sources close to Jones indicate that an in home visit on September 16 or 17th is being worked out. And perhaps a visit to St. John's University next weekend after Mookie plays in another game at IS8.

Mookie and his head coach, Lou Panzanaro, have consistently said that he has no leader in his recruiting process. But it's obvious Jones is going to have a difficult time deciding this most pressure filled process.
