New Jersey Guard Has High D-1 Interest

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Tamir Jackson ...

Tamir Jackson, a 6-foot-1 guard from St. Benedict's High School in Newark, New Jersey, said he has a short list of schools early in his recruiting process.

Jackson, who played with Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Club junior team at IS8 this past weekend, indicated he was still very much open in his recruiting process too.

"I have heard from Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Miami, UAB, Rhode Island, Maryland, St. John's, and Seton Hall," Jackson said. "I don't have a leader but there have been a couple of schools that have shown more interest than the others."

Tamir added: "Miami and UAB have been the two schools that that shown the most interest up to now."

Jackson is a 2009 prospect who is likely to receive some quality consideration from division one schools as indicated already by his early recruiting list.

"I am just getting ready for the season," Jackson said. "I am trying to get stronger and work on my jumper. I want to be more consistent with my jumper."
