New Jersey Lead Guard May Wait To Sign

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Scott Machado ...

Scott Machado, an underrated lead guard from St. Benedict's High School in Newark, New Jersey, said he is leaning toward making a decision in the spring. Machado, who spoke to us from IS8 this morning, has already taken a visit to Iona.

"I had a good time," Machado said. "They told me that I could come in and be a starter. I am also thinking about taking a visit to Norfolk State."

Machado, who played last season at St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York, transferred to St. Benedict's after his family moved to North Carolina. "I miss them," Machado said. "But I am having a good time at St. Benedict's. I enjoy being in the backcourt with Tamir Jackson."

Previously, Machado had also mentioned interest in Quinnipiac, South Florida, Charlotte, Siena, Marist, and Central Connecticut.

"I don't have a leader," Machado said. "I am thinking about waiting until the spring and see what schools will recruit me during the season."
