Bergeron Talks About Lamont Jones' Skills

A look at the individual game of Lamont Jones, who is already committed to Louisville ...

The future is pretty clear for Lamont Jones, the 6-foot, 175-pound combo guard from American Christian Academy in Pennsylvania. Jones has already given a commitment to Louisville and has been excited about playing for Rick Pitino's program for a long time.

The 2009 prospect played last season at Rice High Schoool in New York City and was instrumental in helping the Raiders win several playoff games last season.

Jones has been watched several times by the reporters on this website. Here is a recent evaluation report by Frank Mantesta of the High School New York Scout.com website:

Louisville recruit Lamont Jones has got to make Coach Rick Pitino happy. The tough guard from New York City is typical of the backcourt players Pitino loves. Lamong is strong, a tough defender who also has the ability to shoot the three-pointer.

Jones also has the ability to rotate the ball effectively on the perimeter with is passing skills. He will need to progress in the area of consistency when it comes to shooting the long range shot.

We spoke to Tony Bergeron about Jones and his skill level. Bergeron indicated that coaches have made a favorable comparison of Jones to Chris Lofton.

According to Bergeron, Pitino believes Jones can play either backcourt position in college. Mo Mo has two seasons to prepare himself for the challenges of the Big East Conference.
