New Jersey Guard Worth Watching This Year

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Tamir Jackson, a guard from New Jersey ...

Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Club of New Jersey has a terrific future as evidenced by the tremendous young talent he brought to the IS8 Fall League. "I think we have some of the best young talent around," said Salmon while attending several IS8 games.

Salmon is correct. His teams are deep in talent and the younger teams were very competitive against much older players in the IS8 Fall League.

A player that impressed the reporters on this website during the event held in South Jamaica, New York was Tamir Jackson, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound combo guard who also plays for St. Benedict's in Newark, New Jersey.

Jackson, a member of the 2009 class and a current junior, told reporters Mike Sullivan and Frank Mantesta that he is open in his recruiting process. But Tamir has plenty of division one interest in his skills.

"Rhode Island, Virginia Tech, UAB, Georgetown, St. Joe's, Maryland, Virginia, Miami, and Georgetown are schools that have told me they are interested," Jackson said.

The offers, according to Jackson, include St. Joe's, Miami of Florida, UAB, Virginia Tech, Rhode Island, and Maryland.

Below is a combined evaluation report from Mike Sullivan and Frank Mantesta:

EVALUATION; Jackson has solid floor general skills. He is confident with the ball and has the ability to dribble-drive past defenders along the perimeter. As he becomes stronger, he will be able to finish more consistently.
