Former Long Island Guard Worth Watching

Reporter Mike Sullivan discusses the game of Scott Machado ...

Over the past few months one of the lead guards that has made an impression to the reporters on this website has been Scott Machado, who previously competed for St. Mary's High School in Manhasset, New York.

Machado competed in the IS8 League and also had a solid summer of AAU ball. He is currently attending St. Benedict's in Newark, New Jersey after his family moved to North Carolina.

Scott is a player that was praised quite a bit by former St. Mary's head coach Rob Jones, when Machado was running the show for the Gaels' offense last season.

He has improved too over the past few months, displaying better decision making skills. Scott had mentioned interest in Iona, Norfolk State, Quinnipiac, South Florida, Charlotte, Siena, Marist, and Central Connecticut.

However, Quinnipiac recently nailed down a commitment from lead guard James Johnson of Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, New York.

St. Benedict's plays a very competitive schedule and if Machado decides to wait until the spring to sign a letter of intent, his list could change quite a bit if he has a terrific senior season.
