Lanky and slender, Wafula showed a strong nose for the ball in the Panthers' tussle with the Shooting Stars, featuring a bunch of high major talents.
The Harlem native was around the ball constantly, showed strong rebounding instincts, and dropped down a bunch of shots from the 10-12 foot range. Wafula is something of a tweener, and needs to improve his physical strength, but he's long, active, and unafraid to mix it up. Energy is something he brings in spades, and his motor is always running.
Wafula's recruitment is still taking shape.
"I've heard from LIU, Hofstra, Stony Brook, and a lot of Division II's," said Wafula. "UMBC is very interested. I don't think I've gotten any offers yet."
Wafula ran with the Panthers on the AAU circuit.
Matt will be a senior to watch out of the CHSAA this winter.
