Kevin Jones Will Play In The Big East

Reporter Mike Sullivan has the story on Kevin Jones' college decision ...

Kevin Jones, a 6-foot-7 forward from Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, New York, made a verbal commitment today to West Virginia, according to Kevin's brother Gerard.

"Kevin felt very comfortable with Bob Huggins and how he can help him to the next level," said Gerard.

Kevin made the announcement today at his high school in Mount Vernon. "He really liked St. John's a lot too," Gerard said. "And he liked Seton Hall and Rutgers. And that's why he took those visits at the end."

Huggins has told Jones that he expects to use him at three different positions while he is a member of the West Virginia basketball program.

"He told him he will use him at the shooting guard, small forward and power forward position," Gerard said. "As Kevin's footspeed increases he will be a better small forward too."

Kevin had a tremendous summer playing for Tom Jennings' and Rob Rizzo's Westchester Hawks AAU program. Jones helped the Hawks to go deep into many big name AAU events in the month of July. He has solid hands and will likely be a big impact player on the college level for West Virginia.
