Waiters Helps Adelphi Academy To Win

Reporter Frank Mantesta has story on Adelphia Academy victory ...

In the last game of the night at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, N.Y., Adelphi Academy displayed their talented unheralded team with a convincing, 73-60 defeat of St Mary's High School of Manhasset, New York.

With this win, Adelphi was able to showcase three juniors. Dion Waiters had three first quarter steals and scored eight of his 16 points putting Adelphi on top, 24-19.

They never looked back. Lamont Samuell answered Dion in the 3rd quarter scoring Adelphi's first eight points. Lamont had 16 in the game with 13 coming in that quarter.

Dion and Lamont also showed off their skills in the IS8 fall league playing for the Brooklyn Ballers.

Gavin Scott, a 6-foot-5 junior who is coming off a broken ankle, had limited his playing time in the summer. But he showed he is a player to watch. He had a game-high 24 points in the win.

We will have recruiting updates on all three juniors in the next 24 hours.
