OSNA Shooting Guard Returns To Long Island

Reporter Mike Sullivan has story on Gerardo Suero ...

Gerardo Suero, a 6-foot-3 1/2, 186-pound guard from Our Savior New American in Centereach, New York, returned to the United States in grand style. Yesterday afternoon in Centereach, New York, he scored 33 points to help the Pioneers win, 69-66. OSNA only had six players due to several illnesses that have infected the team.

Suero had been caught back in the Dominican Republic due to a visa mishap. He had been home on Christmas break when he mistakenly left his visa in his pants. A washing machine faded his picture, causing his delay getting back to the United States.

While Suero was away, the Pioneers did capture their own invitational tournament with a victory over a very competitive Boys Club of New York team.

Suero averages over 30 points a game.

Pittsburgh, St. John's and Syracuse had expressed some interest in Suero's offensive skills.
