Iona Recruit Helps Cardozo To Victory

Reporter Frank Mantesta has a story on Trinity Fields ...

Trinity Fields recorded 24 points to help Ron Naclerio's Cardozo basketball program smash San Diego High School, 71-49, in a game held at Baruch College in Manhattan. Cardozo, from Bayside, New York, played in the second game of the big basketball day.

Trinity, who in this reporter's eye, is a steal for the Gaels of Iona and Coach Kevin Willard.

He scored his 24 points on seven of 12 from the field and five of nine from beyond the three-point line. In addition, he had four assists and pulled down six rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

Iona is a rebuilding program making a lot of strides this year. So adding a player of Trinity's ability should help the Gaels in the future.

The Gaels see him has a point guard who can get his points. He makes good decisions with the ball too. He also knows where everybody on his team should be. That is a important quality for a point guard.

Fields posseses a lightning quick dribble who can pull up and hit a jumper. On this day Trinity hit the three-point shot from the start to the end.

Fields was named the MVP of the game.
