Marquis Grant is such a player. At 6-foot-6, 245-pounds, he has the body to help some lower division one school. On Monday against a highly regarded team, San Diego High School, and their 6-foot-11 sophmore stud, Jeremy Tyler. Marquis held his own and at times, excelled.
Marquis ended with seven points, eight rebounds and three blocks. This was all accomplished in just 13 minutes of play.
Grant is a transfer from Christ The King High School in Middle Village, New York. And Naclerio said Grant is just getting himself into the shape he needs to be.
Marquis shows flashes of brilliance, incredible post moves or a dunk or block out of nowhere. Consistency is the key.
Grant is already qualified to get into college so that is a plus this late in the recruiting process. A local low division one school such as Central Connecticut State or Monmouth, even a Stony Brook or St Francis is probably his level right now. And at 6-foot-6 with a nice frame, and a soft touch from inside 15 feet, Grant is worth a look.
