WEIGHT: 185 Pounds

HIGH SCHOOL: Bishop Maginn High School in Albany, New York

POSITIONS: Power Forward/Small ForwardCLASS OF 2008, A senior

AAU TEAM: Albany City Rocks

AAU TEAM PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Jim Hart

DECISION: Central Connecticut State

STRENGTHS: Has an inside out game and can score around the basket

AREA OF IMPROVEMENT: Nees to be more assertive in his game

EVALUATION: Assistant Coach Steve Curran of Central Connecticut State did a very good job of finding this player and staying on him, according to the Albany City Rocks AAU program.

Both parties feel that Shimmek has the ability to be an impact player in the Northeast Conference.

He has a good post game but can also step out and shoot the ball from 17 feet out. He is a excellent finisher and is suited by the style that Central Connecticut plays.

Carmen Maciariello of Albany City Rocks said he felt this kid was a steal for Central Connecticut State. We also agree seeing him in the summer we came away impressed and feel that this will be a great fit for both player and program.
