St. Anthony's Big Man Part Of Big NJ Success

Mike Sullivan has a player profile update on A.J.Rogers of St. Anthony's ...

PLAYER PROFILE: Albert Rogers

HEIGHT: 6-foot-6

POSITION: Center/Power Forward/Small Forward

HIGH SCHOOL: St. Anthony's High School in Jersey City, New Jersey

HIGH SCHOOL HEAD COACH: Bob Hurley, Sr.

AAU TEAM: Westchester Hawks

AAU TEAM'S FORMER HEAD COACH: Bob Rizzo

COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY OF CHOICE: St. Joe's of Philadelphia

WHAT MIKE SULLIVAN THINKS OF ALBERT ROGERS' INDIVIDUAL GAME: We had a chance to watch A.J. play again this season for St. Anthony's. Bob Hurley's team is loaded with offensive weaspons so Rogers is really a fourth or fifth choice in their offensive scheme.

However, this doesn't mean Rogers can't score. But with guards like Mike Rosario, Travon Woodall, Jio Fontan, Alberto Estwick and Dominic Cheek, it's hard for someone like him to get enough touches to be consistently effective offensively.

A.J. is a very good athlete who will be a solid college basketball player. Because he moves his feet so well, he should be able to score around the basket with his quickness.

Expect A.J. to gradually become a star for St. Joe's. He does a nice job rebounding for Hurley's Friars and seems to do what all the other players on St. Anthony's do well -- play a role so the team can win.
