"He gained some confidence and he was a pretty good player for us this year," said Fletchall of Williams, who averaged 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 59 percent from the field for 23-8 Barton. "He was our sixth man. He was second or third on the team in rebounding."
Williams enrolled at Barton in January 2007 and sat out the spring semester after spending the previous fall at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. A native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean, Williams spent his senior year of high school at Monsignor McClancy in East Elmhurst, N.Y.
"He's really long and he's got great upside," said Fletchall. "He runs the floor well. I don't think he's especially strong from 15 feet on out, but he's really good around the basket, a pretty good shot blocker, and good in the low post.
Fletchall expects to see more growth in Williams' game.
"He's a great kid and very low maintenance. Rhode Island is interested. I really believe that he's an Atlantic 10 player after one more year. He's going to have himself a good recruitment."
