Martin, a native of Jamaica, Queens, averaged 11.7 points and 4.2 rebounds this season as a sophomore, shooting 46 percent from 3-point range and 42 percent from the field. He helped Central Florida to the Mid-Florida Conference championship and a berth in the NJCAA Florida state tournament.
"He's a great kid," said Ryan. "He was first team all-conference. He shot 52 percent from three in conference play. He had a great conference showing.
"He's a scorer and at that level he's going to be very good. He's an all-league player at that level."
Martin came to Central Florida from New Horizon Academy in Danville, Va. Prior to that he was a standout at West Hempstead High School on Long Island. Originally, Martin attended Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J.
